Alvarez & Marsal Public Sector Services subjected graduate internship candidates to a 4-round interview process that demanded ≥3-6x more time and effort than any other consulting firm's, only to send this message today. So disrespectful of our time. Wtf does this mean?

Have offers been made to a few candidates with them waitlisting the rest until they know what their headcount looks like?

Public Sector? Do you have any idea at all what is happening in the “public sector” right now? This is a very kindly worded message and you’re lucky they’re not shutting down the entire program. There are people with families, kids in college, getting ready to retire, etc. who have literally been locked out of their workplaces. Tens of thousands of people have no idea if they’re going to have a job next week. Your internship just isn’t the most important thing these days…

OP. No one knew three weeks ago what we know now. Your interviewers will likely be competing for jobs against you shortly.

I’ve had a bad case of work anxiety ever since I started a new job ~7 months ago. The adjustment was ROUGH. I was making mistake after mistake. I powered through and somehow got glowing reviews at year end, with people saying I’ve moved past that point.

I’m convinced I’ve only tricked people and sooner or later they’re gonna catch on. I have extremely bad Sunday scaries, I’m always fighting down my anxiety whenever a new ask comes through. I don’t know what to do.

I've been working at a government agency for 6 months, helping to stand up a new team. The job involves interacting with real estate developers. One of the developers reached out to recruit me for a similar position that will pay more than $50k my current salary. I feel guilty, especially since I'd interact with my current team on the other side. It's a hard to turn down that salary, though I feel guilty since my team is thin, and it's only been 6 months!

Do Leidos, SAIC, and other mostly-fed consulting businesses pay bonuses to all levels? If so, what does a typical bonus target look like? Booz Allen does not pay bonuses until you get to the Senior Associate level (1 step below Director) and I think that impacts employee performance and work ethic pretty dramatically. I’m wondering if not paying bonuses is common to federal contracting because of how the contracts or priced, or if this is something unique to Booz Allen.
