Am I expected to find coverage for my cases after I give notice? I keep getting asked “who is working on X,” and I’m like, well up until yesterday, me.

I would just work on preparing transition memos for each of your active matters, but I would think staffing/coverage should be up to the partner supervising each case.

The answer to your question is no

Thank you

I would flag everything you’re working on that needs to be reassigned to your supervisor for the corresponding matter. Whether you’re expected to do this or not, things fall through the crack, so it’s a nice thing to do. And when someone asks, just refer them to the supervisor.

I am in lit, not corporate. My supervisors have been on me to get all this done immediately (while still having me work all weekend) and it’s quite frankly not been possible. I am seriously considering burning the bridge and pushing up my last day given they’re (imho, unfairly) annoyed at me already.

like

Thanks. I’m just totally being micromanaged to shit, I can’t actually get the memos done. Like…what do you want from me? lol

like

You literally don't have to do anything. The partners themselves don't do shit when another firm offers them more money to leave.

Boomer. I am in between jobs. Laid off in 10/21 after 16+ yrs, with an ABA firm. RIF. Still on excellent terms. Took my time living off generous package and didn’t seriously start applying until 01/22. Made a rookie mistake and accepted first offer.
Turns out job wasn’t as advertised. Mutual parting of ways 3/22. Due diligence is critical.
Now interviewing a LOT. Some temp work, I still have “it”. I relate to all gens. Willing to mentor AND learn from all. Tech savvy, CTE from day one. Leads?

Mid 2020, I turned down an opportunity to jump ship from my small law firm to a big law firm. At the time I had 4 years of practice under my belt with managerial experience. I thought the offer was reasonable, come in at a 2nd year level, but with the uncertainty of the times I played it safe. Now I regret it.
