America: where even terrorists can buy guns

https://www.thetrace.org/2016/01/internet-gun-sales-background-checks/

"But because the guns were purchased in private sales, there were no safeguards to prevent their illicit purchases from going through. Private sellers can ask buyers whether they have criminal records or other prohibiting factors; their customers can lie, and the seller has no way to check. When a sale goes through a licensed dealer — whether it originates from a computer keyboard, or with the buyer driving straight to a nearby gun store on a whim to add to his collection — that sale will involve a background check, which from 1998 to 2015 blocked sales to more than 2.5 million purchasers with personal histories designating them too high-risk to own a firearm."

This is why we should have background check for every type of sale. It actually works.

I think the point that we are trying to make is that federal law should just go ahead and fix the problem instead of leaving it up to 50 individual states to do it.

I mean, consultants are supposed to be experts in efficiency... Right?

Troll alert.

like

The guy was taken off of the terrorist watch list. He was only on a no fly list. No fly list doesn't mean failed background check. Go ask the liberals in charge why he was removed from the watch list

like

The senate just turned down a bill that would not allow people on the terror watch list to buy a gun for reasons I can literally not fucking understand. Can someone please explain to me why you do not think it is common sense to restrict the KNOWN TERRORISTS from purchasing firearms??

like

Uh not true. Nice try though

like

Why is this trolling? It literally keeps happening

like

@PwC1 Regardless, there's literally nothing from stopping anyone from buying guns here

like

You do realize that no matter what "legal" process we enact, whatever barriers or government erects to make it more challenging for someone to obtain a firearm, anyone who is willing to commit mass murder is perfectly able to use the black market. No amount of gun control laws will be able to regulate the black market. There will ALWAYS be shootings like Orlando regardless of gun laws.
That being said, I am in favor of requiring background checks for gun shows and online sales.

like

C1 in 1776 there was a reason for it. Today, not so much.

like

Unlike most of you, I've actually purchased guns in this country. I had to take a written gun safety exam, undergo a background check, and had to wait 2 weeks before I could pick the guns up. Pretty tired of hearing liberals talk about things they have no knowledge of (i.e. Terrorism & guns).

like

P3 - so a government can't become overbearing and tyrannical? Have you followed global politics at all?

like

I have purchased a shotgun and handgun in Texas. Neither transaction took longer than 15 minutes. No tests were required.

The rifle I own was given to me, lawfully, by a father in law. No record of the transaction was recorded.

Anyone who says that it is hard to come by a firearm in the U.S. is just simply divorced from reality.

like

*gay* terrorists

like

It's the NRA who opposes people on watch lists or no fly lists having to be background checked

like

What are you talking about? The legal way yes there is. Black market way , then no

like

Well the no fly list in general is a pile of shit if you do any real research on it. Babies and 80 year old grandmas are on there cause of some mistake or becuase they share a similar name or alias with no real recourse on how to get off/prove they aren't supposed to be there. So I can't say I support its use for denying anyone access to anything. In a perfect world where there was due process for both lists and they were mostly accurate then they could be very valuable, but that's not the case, and I can't support using them to infringe on anyone's rights because of that. I'd rather 100 guilty people be given rights they shouldn't than 1 innocent person have them taken away.

like

Most gun shows based on state law does not permit sales to out of state customers. You people have no clue go to a gun shop and ask questions not assume.

like

You can absolutely sell a firearm face to face to another individual with no requirement to go through any authorized dealers.

like

Yea and when that guy gets stopped or its used in a crime. The serial number is still in the previous owners hands. Uh oh someone is trouble for breaking a federal crime

Am I understanding utilization rate correctly? It’s chargeable time over total time? Charged 40 hours and had 10 hours non-charge so my utilization is 80%? If so, wouldn’t it benefit me to understate non-charge hours so my utilization is higher since they only really care about chargeable time anyways? Charge 40 hours still but only put 5 hours non-charge for utilization to be 89% instead of 80%? Or am I misunderstanding how utilization works?
