They should have asked you your availability first. If it’s a new company I would take that as a red flag. 🚩
If it’s internal they should KNOW better. They can see your schedule for your current position.
Is it the same company or a different one? If it’s the same I would think they would consider availability and even look at calendars. If it is different, generally they ask about availability or even have you select a time through a link. I’ve always moved my schedule around if I could to accommodate an interview though to ensure I appear eager and interested.
Agree that information could have been shared with you. And I just read in another one of your responses a recruiter had reached out to you, I would dodge that bullet if that’s the case.
It’s rare that hr can schedule something outside of normal working hours but really messed up they were unable to schedule something around the times your free. I would pass on them (unless you told them your only free at night or something. The expectations is that you will come together to find a time during the work day to interview no one wants to interview a candidate after hours)
How good is the job you are applying for? I typically tend to use the companies organisation as an indicator of the experience I’m going to have. I went for a team where the TL was bad with time management, late to coffee chat, interview etc and when I spoke with the team apparently that was just the tip of the ice berg, organisational skills were lacking, time management, leadership skills were also lacking. Turned down the offer, because it’s just not worth it.
The company is a tier 1 Bulge Bracket and the job is similar to my current one, I was contacted by a recruiter about it. I don’t know about the team, it already gave me a bad impression after this.
Generally HR may be disconnected from the hiring team, may not even in the same city so what HR does may not be a reflection of the hiring manager or the company. I had a bad experience with an HR personnel during the hiring process but the team couldn’t be better. Only available at 4 or 5 pm for interview is a tough schedule to accommodate though.
