open a wealthfront account, choose a risk level, transfer money to them, pay a very low advisory fee (0.25%), let the money sit in a diversified fund. Let me know if you want a WF referral code
Start with a bunch of standard ETFs for S&P, FTSE. Then tack on a few emerging market ETFs like India and after you have a solid base of ETFs, start studying individual stocks and see which ones look attractive based on current valuations and market performance.
Important to not make risky investments right at the start. Try to get an account with no brokerage/ AM fees to begin with since you only need basic order placing capabilities. Invest regularly rather than trying to time the market. Hope this helps! Good luck, feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions!
Right now I think investing in bonds is better but if you wanna do stocks the easiest solution would be to just get into a S&P500 index fund and just let the money stay in there for like 5 years
Max out your 401k. Open a brokerage account and add a bit every month to SPY or VOO. These are extremely diverse ETFs and literally cannot lose over a long time horizon. Stay consistent and disciplined in contributions, don't get greedy and pick/swing stocks like you're Warren Buffet. Pull money out only when you have a major life event. That's literally it.
24 here, so take with a grain of salt - i’ve just been weekly buying VOO considering my horizon is longer. I also purchase QQQ every once in a while. but before all of this, i completely max out my 401k through work.
I use Betterment for robo-advising, similar to Wealthfront for my Roth IRA and general investing
Similar question as you. 22 and sitting on a large bit of cash (like 200k) but not sure where to allocate the cash to and divide it up. I started using Wealthfront automated investing recently (first 5k is freely managed) and it’s been going well so far. But any other auto investment pathways? Auto investments for now because I sometimes forget to check in.
that’s awesome! even better to hear you truly worked for it instead of it just being an inheritance etc. i am sure you are but if not, you should be really proud of yourself! that’s a big accomplishment.
DCA into S&P 500 for 20 years
VOO ❤️
Don’t pay an advisory fee, you’re a consultant so you can figure out the basics. I echo people in the chat saying to start with SPY and some ETFs. Open a brokerage account (not the Robinhood bullshit) and google the types of ETFs they offer. There will be a bunch of categories like large cap, dividend, etc.
