Any advice on how to escape litigation? I primarily practice in federal court with section 1983 civil rights cases. While it’s been fascinating practicing con law, I realize it’s not very transferable and feel like I’m already pigeonholed in litigation. I do some advising for larger governmental agencies and enjoy working with their in house counsel. The only aspects of my current position I enjoy are the research, writing, and advising clients on their obligations.

Can you all share your YoE, total comp (base + bonus + equity / stock options), location, and size of company. I’ll go first - 10 YOE, 180K + 20% + $250K in options, Atlanta, and PE backed $100M company. TIA!

When you say your salary jumped __x, how is that exactly calculated?

Mine was $16k (minimum wage before joining corporate) > $40k (contractor total before getting laid off) > $150k (current FT)?

Is that a 260% jump or 2.6x from $16k to $40k?
And a 375% jump or 3.75x from $40k to $150k?

Or do I calculate it by hourly rate?
