If they want WFO then they should atleast provide a proper accommodation closer to office for non-local employees.
Bullsh** coming from people like Elon Musk or Kunal Shah is usually considered as "Word of God" by majority of the IT folks.
In the end they are just businessmen who only cares about making money with little or no empathy towards the employees.
I also like his product, but I don't like him as a person. He's also a huge supporter of WFO and gives too much of gyaan as if only he knows what is best for everyone.
He's just waiting for someone to buy his loss making startup so that he can exit with big bucks, the same way he did with freecharge.
Most of the IT employees are underpaid because they lack skills. A well rested Employee doesn't always do a full 8 hours of work. They even rest for a full day. I saw these in my last organization (TCS), where people skipped the whole day and when later they were asked they said toofaan aa raha tha, light nahi aa rahi thi, etc etc. Our teams WhatsApp group was daily filled with messages like "Light nahi aa rahi".
In my current organization, I see people (from TCS) as we are their client, working more than 8 hours. For them I can easily say they can work from home efficiently, and one of them got converted to our company as FTE.
Efficiency always depends from person to person. Some people can work from home efficiently some cannot.
The syllabus for those IT employees haven't changed in the last 20 years in their graduation. Those who have gone through an updated syllabus aren't hired for 3.36 LPA, they easily get 10+.
TCS makes a career for thousands of students who know nothing. Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineers are hired in the IT industry and they get a head start.
It is always easy to blame companies, or vice-versa.
Musk is a daring visionary and the world needs that kind of people.
That being said, not every word that comes from his mouth is pure gold. He is very vocal on Twitter because he likes being in news and discussions, gives him and his companies a good fame.

They trusted us in pandemic time and they generated billions of revenue. Now only the issue . Why ? . Wfh priority is different for each person by person. Most of the people can manage their work and life in a flexible way. If they have any trust issue, there are so many methods to monitor. So actual issue is not that

Can't agree more , companies should see conveyance ,city wise.Mumbai , Bangalore commute is costly and time consuming.Its ok until you are bachelor can spend 2-4 hrs in travelling ,becomes difficult once you have family.Hardly have energy left after travelling in bus ,locals , metros.Emoloyees should atleast get option to select from ,judge their performance and take call instead of forcing return to office.As hardly people leave office in 8 hrs it's mostly 10-12 hrs.
Mr Musk runs a manufacturing company, not an IT one. His comments are not relevant for IT / Consulting.

Totally agree.. It should be hybrid or choice. Some people in my office love to work from office but I hate it.. Who likes to waste 4 hours daily travelling??
