Ask yourself: if I were interviewing a prospect to my school as an alum, what would I want to see/hear?
Finally, answer their questions and follow your own logic. Sounds obvious but so often candidates will pull some logical loop like:
Interviewer: ‘what culture are you looking for from Bschool?’
Applicant: “I want a fun, collegial group to get along with”
Int: “what other schools are you looking at and why?”
App: “LBS, Wharton, HBS, etc. I like each school and HBS seems to be really fun and outgoing, whereas INSEAD seems to be a bit more competitive”
Int: “then why are you continuing to interview? Seems like you’ve found your program at HBS!”
App: 😳
Fun fact, that’s a true story from an Alum interview I lead for HBS. (Schools adjusted for anonymity ofc)
Try to look up the Alum’s LinkedIn, if possible and get a bit of background. At least one of the alum paired will be related to the career interests you’ve stated in your application, take advantage and ask questions that really show your interest in your stated goals
