First American Financial Corporation I have attended two rounds of interview in First American Finan Company last week and have received an email that I have been selected in their interview process. The talent acquisition team did not send me an offer letter instead have sent me a BGC form which I submitted yesterday. I found it very strange as usually first offer letter is rolled out and then BGC check happens if the candidate accepts the offer. Today there was no communication. Can anyone tell me if they faced this situation?TIA

Here’s the thing. Most interviewees have no idea if they actually killed it or not. They know if they got to a final answer smoothly, but that’s about 10% of what I’m looking for. Did you show an ability to structure the problem, did you communicate your thoughts well, and did you show creativity and a collaborative nature in your thinking? Those are all more important in my book and most people have limited ability to self evaluate how they did on those unless they did really poorly in my experience

I keep telling people that the interview is 50% case. The other 50% is your culture fit. Remember that.

I thought about tennis courts like hotels for a revenue case, which seemed sophisticated.

Used to have to do well on both (doesn’t have to be ace) to get an offer. These days there seems to be a lot more leniency—if we expected people to ace both we wouldn’t have bodies. 🤫
In today’s climate, you just need to show up to get hired. 😂
Seriously though, in current circumstances you can afford to perform average on one case.
This is somewhat true. There have been multiple instances where a person did well in one case and mediocre (at best) on the second case (including making unforced errors) and was still made an offer (because they were otherwise qualified and did well in fit interviews, and were very likable). While this makes sense half the time, I think we need to be better with our standards for case performance.
Totally depends on the interviewer. I screwed up a graph question and still got hired, but I know of people getting denied because the partner didn’t vibe with their PEI answers. Like most business decisions, it seems like it often comes down to a gut feeling.
