New fish looking for career guidance.

I'm a corporate recruiter with 3 years of experience. Finishing my degree in HRM 5/2022. I'm thinking of getting my SHRM -CP shortly after graduation.

I'm not sure of where to go after that, but I doubt I will stick with recruiting or my current firm.

Has anyone here started off in recruiting and branched out to other HR functions? Do you like your new role? Do you wish you stuck with recruiting?

Recruiting was one of my first HR functions, and I really enjoyed it. I was an internal recruiter, and it gave me exposure to relationship management with hiring managers and external recruiters, workforce planning, and compensation.
I moved from TA into more holistic Talent and Org Development, because I found my interests are more aligned with the projects in this arena.
TA is a great career for someone who thrives in fast-paced, process-driven work. While I was successful, it was not a natural fit for me. I work better on long-term initiatives that need lots of planning and execution.

I'm asking these questions now, you're setting yourself up for a great career no matter what path you choose.

What is org development? Like succession planning or talent management ?

What are some other transferrable skills that a internal recruiter would have ? I am currently an IR

I've known alot of people moved from Recruiting to more Core HR functions. What helped for myself is interacting/ networking with other HR folks in other companies to see the different kinds of work other companies do.

It will help you broaden and build meaningful networks

I got an offer that I would love to take, it is a jump for me role wise (Tech Program Manager) at a big company . But that requires move to Seattle from Midwest. I was looking at the housing costs and it’s huge difference. can anyone convince me if moving to Seattle is best bet for career, kids and family if I can put up with the housing costs. Salary wise not a lot increased as I was already making good enough. But I need a role change as I am stuck at where I am for a long time.

He has roughly 3 yoe and was at a V10 firm doing tech transactions work but took time off for health. Hey all! Wondering if people have suggestions on LMSs (learning management systems) they love.

I work at a small (25 EE) fintech startup and all the departments are looking for software that would help streamline on boarding, have options for continued learning, and career succession planning. I’ve only worked with larger LMSs previously.

I know this is a subjective topic in certain ways, but I would love to hear your thoughts and why are you enjoy the system you work with.

I’m a business/sales recruiter at a late stage tech company in CA. I’ve advanced twice in my tenure (shy or 4yrs), but make about $120k. I outperform all sr members on the team, take on mentorship for other jr members, participate in x-functional projects. My manager says I am doing great, but doesn’t want to help with my growth. I feel a bit under paid for the amount of impact I’ve brought to the team and larger org. Is it fair to escalate above manager?
