Recruiting was one of my first HR functions, and I really enjoyed it. I was an internal recruiter, and it gave me exposure to relationship management with hiring managers and external recruiters, workforce planning, and compensation.
I moved from TA into more holistic Talent and Org Development, because I found my interests are more aligned with the projects in this arena.
TA is a great career for someone who thrives in fast-paced, process-driven work. While I was successful, it was not a natural fit for me. I work better on long-term initiatives that need lots of planning and execution.
I'm asking these questions now, you're setting yourself up for a great career no matter what path you choose.
What is org development? Like succession planning or talent management ?
What are some other transferrable skills that a internal recruiter would have ? I am currently an IR
I've known alot of people moved from Recruiting to more Core HR functions. What helped for myself is interacting/ networking with other HR folks in other companies to see the different kinds of work other companies do.
It will help you broaden and build meaningful networks
