No lawyer should ever rep themselves in any capacity, outside of small claims / traffic court.
I think purchasing a home qualifies under this logic - there are like 3 states (MA is one) where you’re required to have an attorney for a residential real estate txn. The vast majority of closings in the country happen without a lawyer.
I did, it doesn’t work. The commission split is often dependent on the seller’s agent’s policies. We had several seller’s agents tell us they only offer the split if it’s a well known firm.
Plus you really want to work with someone with grade A knowledge of the environment, the locale, the sellers. My agent is one of my closest friend neighbors now
We tried to do it when we were looking to buy in 2022, but I did not look into any rules. We had a few sellers agents ask us who our agent was and I’d reply it me, and they all responded in that way. I didn’t bother checking if it was true

If you can be your own broker wouldn’t it save you like 2%
