I don’t put others down to make myself feel better so no. Comparison is the thief of joy and everyone struggles differently
I don’t to feel better about myself, but I am close to the other working moms and the ones who are crushing it often are putting family life on the back burner.
I am the only associate who has kids in our group. Without a peer (cannot resonate with the partners) makes me feel even worse.
It definitely depends on the firm. My firm has a decent WLB if you do it right which is why people work here so I don’t think it’s the case that people crushing it are bad parents. But they might have different resources - their spouse has a well paying job or better benefits so they can outsource more than me. If you’re in biglaw people are choosing their job as their first priority instead of time with their kids. Personally my values are different.
