Not in NYC, but I had a friend who had 1 kid in the UK, and her 2nd in the states. Be aware that it's more expensive in the US, with poorer maternity leave
I’m liking this direction 👌🏼
All that being said, I’m from NY and I live in London. I wish I could move back to raise my kids there. There is such an amazing amount of interesting events and activities for kids. So many cultures around. It’s not the easiest city for kids but if you live in a family friendly area like Brooklyn it’s lovely. I grew up there and wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Mat leave in the us is around 3 months, 4 if you’re lucky. Also childcare costs are higher in NY but you would be making more money.
Also, if the move would necessitate changing employers, you might have a minimum amount of service time (6mo or a year, potentially) before you’re eligible for full mat leave. Policies vary widely by company and most are really very poor.
Yeah was hoping the higher wages would balance stuff out
No please don’t be sorry! Really really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Thank you ☺️
That’s great to hear
