Hey anyone has advice on fixed income execution trader in a buy side firm? Sizable firm, good team, very low pay, okay wlb, been here for a year and working for 4 years in total, was sales/ small firm analyst before. Art Directors, how do you feel being led by creatives with copywriting background (CDs) whose present clearly lack of knowledge about Design/Art Direction references. How to deal with it? Any tips?

I started full time at an agency mid pandemic so have never once worked in the office. I find myself working 50+ hour weeks even from home. Everyone who says "I can't wait to be back at the office" - are they really serious? To tack on commute time and public transit anxiety, wake up at the crack of dawn. Will working from the office somehow decrease the work load and increase productivity? Genuinely curious who wants to go back and why.

What do you say when people ask “so what do you do?”

I freelanced for an agency as an art director for 6 months and recently got hired FT. I am struggling with imposter syndrome on a daily basis but manage to get great feedback from the creative directors continuously but still feel the same way. I was put on a creative brainstorm and my ideas seemed so misaligned with everyone else's but the designs I did the client liked and I think we are moving forward with. Where does the role of art director begin and end? New to agency life. Any advice?

Is it a dead in to go in-house early in your career? And is it doable to go back and forth between agency and in-house opportunities?

Might be starting at a small agency as a full time Junior AD soon, fingers crossed. The only other roles I’ve had at agencies were freelance and intern before WFH.
