5 years out of LS. I’m working at my dream law firm that rejected me while in law school. I also have loads of impressive experiences on my resume. It gets better.
What did you do to get to where you did? Might help others achieve the same results.
6 years out. 2.8 gpa. Landed in big law after 3 years post law school. Top 30 firm. Quit and went to an AM 150. I’m doing well. It was hard though.
There are many, you likely know some (but just may not be aware of their law school performance).
I graduated bottom third. Now? Partner with my own book of business, a leader in my firm, and TC over 400. Not in a major market city.
Despite what law school professors and administrators may have told you, there are damn good lawyers outside of the top 10%.
Keep your head up, stay focused. One day, you’ll be one of the success stories too.
I just made partner. I work around 40-45 hours a week. TC is over 200
I have a 3.2 at an unranked law school. One of my close friends was on academic probation twice. We both passed the bar and are in the roles we wanted.
3.2 at an unranked school is bad? That’s at least the top third at my low ranked school
The ones who succeed and were toward the bottom of their class have a business mind that others don’t. A lower rung class member (c/o ‘13) is an equity partner at a large regional RE closing firm (and another successfully launched his own closing firm) - turns out being sociable and drinking can pay off.
Conversely, I know several stories of people from my class at the top - one actually didn’t graduate because she was caught cheating in a last semester 3L class, another worked for ~3 years at a large regional firm and now sells insurance.
