Hi 👋 Any good UX books for senior designer level that helps with strategy, and good frameworks, or anything that will help me with my thought process? I have the basic books like don’t make me think, and 100 things. I’ll be joining a startup soon as chief designer, and will be back to being a full stack designer — I’ve been an IC for the past few years, so I definitely need to improve on strategies and maybe frameworks when it comes to UX. Will appreciate any suggestions. Thanks! 🙏🏻

My husband and I have had problems for years. He used to basically give me next to no affection, our sex life barely existed (incl. his absolute refusal to do foreplay … ever!) and his general dismissal of anything I enjoyed (my hobbies were boring to him). Over the last year I just gave up trying and accepted we may need to divorce. Now he is trying a lot- he puts in a lot of effort. While a few years ago this would have made me happy I feel like it’s too little too late, I just don’t care ..

Went on a date last Sunday, I really liked the person and want to make things work but I feel I am putting too much effort to continue it. He seems interested in me but on and off, he gives me mixed vibes from his side what should I do shall I wait (cold messaging) or ask him directly I am scared of loosing him. Dating guys is new to both of us. He mentioned he needs some time to figure but it's effecting me the most maybe because I feel I am already attached naturally Any thoughts would help 🥺

Can I export a list with all emails I sent for the month? I would like to use it to compare to my billed time to make sure I don’t miss anything. Usually I go through my sent inbox but it has so much extra info so it’s not a quick scan. Plus outlook does weird things sometimes like combines conversations so I only see most recent sent item in that convo. Alternatively, do you have a good way confirming you caught all of your email time?

Any recommendations on relocating to Hawaii? I am registered for the Hawaii bar but currently based out of Los Angeles and practicing in California as a licensed attorney.

Okay. Possibly a stupid question BUT Imma ask anyway.

Can someone just explain how you plan out how much to bill so you can make sure it’s not a mad scramble at the end of year? I’m moving from a firm where I was lacking in any kind of mentorship. No one ever just sat down and explained the most efficient way to track/measure your hours to confirm that you are on track.

Is there just a secret excel spreadsheet that all lawyers have and I just missed the memo???

HELP.

Friend and I who went to law school together want to go into practice together (specifically, COA/HOA collections); however, she is not licensed, yet. I am. She would be working the same as I, just unable to give advice, file, etc. (all the things that require a license). Our deal would be that upon her licensure, she would get a percentage ownership of the firm (probably 49-50%). However, I litigate, and would anticipate bringing on cases to the firm outside of just HOA/COA stuff. (Cont’d)…

Soon I will be working on designing a shared home office for my husband and me. Any ideas for the best kind of set up for this? For context, I work from home and he does not, but he is also an attorney who needs a desk and space to be able to work from home when needed. Thoughts on two separate desks facing each other, on separate walls, along a single wall? The only thing that I think would be a little weird is if we were back to back, in case of my video calls for work

Mexican attorney here - I am currently researching LLM programs (specifically M&A) and somehow paying USD$200K to study in the US doesn’t seem too appealing.

I hold a Spanish passport which may help with tuition fees in European Universities - do you recommend any European LLM programs or should I just bite the bullet and ask for a loan and pay the USD$150 - 200K?

Mentioning the programs is greatly appreciated.

Associate in the NY office of a magic circle firm. Been really struggling with mental health issues for a long time - I feel like I’m begging for guidance/supervision and not getting any, and can’t get any support junior-wise either. I just get told I’m doing a “good job” but I’m pretty sure that’s just because no one is looking. Is the expectation just to magically figure out how to get things done solo, even if it’s the first time to do it? Is it better at NY-HQ firms that have more resources?

Any attorneys here with ADHD/ADD? I was recently diagnosed ADHD, but it was clear I had it my whole life. It did not materially hinder me until law school, and now it’s pretty debilitating as an associate. Since I have been medicated, some executive functioning has been better but it’s really hit or miss. Anyone have any success stories? Would in-house be easier to manage as there is less executive functioning (ie no timekeeping and billing)? I appreciate any response in advance. Thanks!
