Do any of you have side-jobs or maybe hobbies that you make money from? Alternatively, what do you think sounds like a good one to look into?

Last year I started freelance research on Upwork. Upwork has a lot of different remote jobs like transcription, research, translation etc. employers there are verified and there’s an escrow process for payment that fills me with confidence that I’m not gonna get scammed. I got a lot of work there and ended up making like 1K over 2 months for research stuff.

I have a junior who has a second job/paid hobby and I was pretty furious when they did not complete their assigned work but I could see (from public online activity) that they had been active at their second job.

On that basis, I really would not recommend getting a second job. It also might make people think that you have really bad money management skills and maybe your judgment isn't that good....

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.

Motions
I work in a midsize firm and we have the basic subscription to westlaw, which doesn’t include the ability to see filed briefs, motions, etc without incurring additional costs. I’m wondering if there is a service in the NJ/PA area that gives you access to previously filed motions and briefs? So if I’m drafting a summary judgment I could search the service and find a similar one. If this doesn’t exist.. I think I found the next million dollar idea lol
