Good luck. You did it once. You can do it again.

You’re looking for a glimmer of hope - so maybe it’s just about reframing this whole thing for yourself.
I know two creatives from South Africa (still considered a developing country for many reasons) who successfully came here twice.
They leveraged their first stint in the US to get a great gig back home, lead a whole team to win a ton of big international awards. Then they used that experience to get an even better position than they’d held previously in the US.
Not exactly the same situation as I don’t think they were laid off, but maybe you don’t need to focus on that fact when you get home.
Use the experience to get a role you’d never have gotten before and then give yourself a chance to do some great work and return on the back of that.
You’re right, the market is terrible but it will be very different in a couple of years. Think of this a long story arc in your career.
Yes. I have a friend who did exactly that. I can't speak to the absolute pain in the ass process that I'm sure it is, but I know it's possible. Have hope.
Did you have experience (and contacts) before coming to the U.S.?
Tbh if I were you (and I also come from a twc), I’d just go back and upsell myself, secure a better-paying role and position, enjoy the commodities of my own country. My food, my family, my friends. Yes, I know twc are violent and politics make it even more unstable, but the American Dream deck has been revised and I don’t think the layoffs hit as hard there as they hit in the U.S.
Quick update because you all were so kind with your comments: I just moved back to the US and start a new job next week! Here's to believing!
