Does anyone here work for Silicon Valley Bank? They recently acquired Boston Private. I’m a candidate for a job at Boston Private. Wondering if SVB is planning layoffs in the near term at BP? Also, does anyone know the anticipated benefits to be rolled out from SVB as the parent company? Specifically interested in health insurance providers. Thanks in advance for any information! I absolutely relate to this and I am sorry you are experiencing this. Too often we place our personal value on our careers. #1 get some professional help. Nobody needs to know what you are up to, unless you want to share.
I was out of work for 5 months and was severely depressed.
I volunteered with charities that needed help. There are charities that need professional experience though have no budget for it. These are great opportunities to keep your skills sharp through your offering them a few hours of your expertise per week and still allow time to job hunt. Sometimes these lead to employment because you have already become part of the "team" and you are who they already know. Mentally, this was remarkably healing for me. I also suggest doing anything physical and adding music or podcasts to listen to while being active. Good luck I hope things improve quickly.
I will close with one statement from depression therapists. "Don't make a permanent decision about a temporary problem."
I’m so sorry you experienced this. I definitely recommend:
*finding a new therapist. Changing your thought patterns takes time and professional guidance will be helpful
*finding new areas of joy and skill
*detaching yourself from work as a source of self esteem and identity
*trying voice lessons. Singing feels good, and learning how to reclaim your voice (literally and figuratively) is empowering.
