I’m afraid you’re gonna witness favoritism at every point in your career, PA or not.

That’s why it’s important to make sure you choose the right person as your advisor (whatever your firm calls the person who speaks for you at the round tables). Choose someone who loves to talk, will stand their ground, and you know will fight for you not someone who is shy, speaks softly, backs down quickly, etc. You can quickly tell which of the managers/directors are and build good relationships with them and make sure they’re aware of everything. I love working for my senior managers/directors but I would never choose them as my advisors because I know they’ll back down quickly.
I think the good staff actually get good recognition during the evaluation. It is based on the feedbacks gathered throughout the year. However, I really don’t like some people think they are somebody just because they get to evaluate other during the round table. It’s like they suddenly have some power even though during the normal day to day life they are also grinding like a dog

Become the favorite. Rule them all.
I am not going to say there is no favoritism, but if you do your job well, you will get every promotion and pay increase as anyone else, so it is up to you.
Been to GT’s round table. I actually think it is very easily determine if one can do his or her job by delivering. And attitude.
I think it’s 2 fold. 1) be visible 2) be really good. If you do both you’ll be unstoppable and have no issues moving up. Politics are a part of life and literally everywhere.
Play the game and you’ll win!
I don’t feel that way at Deloitte. Rather, I have partners fighting for me and supporting my growth. Could be office/culture/service line. Hit me up with a DM if you’re ready to change your experience.
Your career doesn't depends on other people's favoritism. Aim higher then you will get higher. If you think about favoritism then you already unconsciously compare yourself with other people's pet.

This might be a little too simplistic. You really need to be someone’s favorite / go-to person to really do a great job and have to make sure that person isn’t afraid to stand up for you.
Always pick the strongest person as your counselor/mentor.
Not a huge fan of the politics. I feel like I haven’t necessarily been able to get the opportunities I need to develop and make it to the next level (manager) because they keep loading up the super seniors (enough experience to be manager, but can’t since no CPA) with in charging opportunities. Why can’t up or out be a thing at my firm?
Wow. I thought great things about GT and almost accepted an offer. Sorry to hear its like KPMG.
I’ve worked different cpa firms and industry … politics is everywhere
maybe be a little more interesting? memorable? 🫣
Moved from large PA to medium sized Corporate this past year. Favoritism in PA just turns into favoritism/nepotism in Corporate. It took me a long time to finally see past at multiple employers, but it’s just the way the world works in general. People are always going to watch out for themselves or their people first. It is inevitable and unescapable unless you are at the top and write the rules.
