I’d estimate that mid to senior level IC data roles are running ~$25k base BELOW what I feel the fair market value should be based on previous data I’ve collected with inflation factored in. I’ve also heard of offers coming in below what was discussed in initial screens by $5-15k base, without solid reasons, putting candidates in a tough spot. This is for data roles in marketing. Curious what other industries are seeing?

Learned I was making less than peers at other asset managers in NYC with less experience (14 years). Latest conversation was with HR about how they calculate salaries. 3 YOE in Marketing through internships in college, followed by 2 years Financial Operations/Data Tools full-time. I got an offer for $75K at TekSystems for a Market Analyst role. I gave them a range of $70-75K, so they gave the max. But I am questioning asking for a bit more given insurance is apparently on the higher-end and I want to ensure I didn't low-ball myself.

After the final interview, HR reached out and said they would like to extend an offer. HR gave a ball park of 135k - 145k base with about 15k in sign-on equity and 20k annual bonus.

After a couple of days, HR person came back with with 125k base and 20k annual bonus. No sign-on equity anymore. What should I do given that these numbers seem way lower than the initial range provided? HR claimed it’s because of “market conditions”.
