Anyone else feeling overwhelmed? I feel like I am being punished for doing a good job. I continue to get things added to my plate to complete while my counter part is not. Very frustrating.

Sorry you are going through this. I learned a long time ago that the reward for good work is more work. I would say you should scale back slowly. There is nothing wrong with just meeting expectations for a job rather than going above and beyond.

Same thing happens to me everywhere I go. The answer is the same when I say no. "I can trust you to get it done right and on time". My answer is "Maybe this means you need to hire better people". When I found out at my last job of 7 yrs I was training people, who were showing up late and leaving early and not doing a good job, were getting paid more than me...that was it. I demanded a raise then found another job. They begged me to come back and a yr later are stuck with 2 nurses that are horrific and cycle through other nurses because they have to do the work for the other 2 who are pets of the DON.

Hang in there. We are suffering from Hurricane trauma. Take some time for yourself. And learn to say no. It is too much. When you set boundaries, others will realize that and back off. But only you can set and enforce those boundaries.

We just got power back yesterday. Two in two weeks is a bit much and this second one required us to relocate our residence to higher ground. Fortunately the facility received minor damage and my own home has some minor structural damage. So many need help. They lost it all. I wish I had the energy and time too help them all. Thank you for your kind words.

I feel that I have a coworker that does not get much work although others on the team does and although I am frustrated by this , I wonder if the coworker just had better boundary enforcement than others. Maybe this is more about who sets better boundaries to maintain work life balance than solely being “rewarded” with more work for being efficient. Maybe this is a lesson for you to set better boundaries like your coworker does.

I definitely have to learn it’s ok to set boundaries and say no sometimes.

I am feeling very overwhelmed and getting the silent treatment at work from a co worker who thinks she’s the boss and is not , I want to say something but , I need my job .

Sounds like your someone they trust. Don't fight it. You are a leader.

That’s how it always seems to be.. instead of getting rewarded for doing a good job you just get more added onto you because management knows you can do it and do it well.

I have such a vast amount of experience, knowledge and skills, with so much to offer, but, because I take a little longer than those in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s to learn new software programs I’m being aged out of the work force. I'm 64.5 years old and can't retire for at least 3 more years. What can I do? I'm an Associate Degree RN 13 years, Licensed PT Asst 38 years, Wound and Geriatric Certified, with Management experience. Everyone wants to pay what I made 10-20 years ago! Accepting lower pay I’d lose my home. I'm divorced many years, it's just me paying the bills…

Gave my two week notice late May, took the summer off, just started working again 3 weeks ago. I think at a better company, we will see. Found the job in a week, thank goodness I'm not desperate, house paid off, ready to retire in the next decade, and I have become a firm believer in less stress, wishing you all good luck

True statement.

This has happened to me in every position that I have had, My work ethics are very important to me. I always go above and beyond. The hire ups know that you will do the job. Have you had a soft conversation with your manager? Maybe the counter part can help you with some tasks. Work as a team.

I have been looking for a supervising position in healthcare for seven months now. Its hard to get in the door.

I was let go, despite I was always at work and did my job well, while my neighbors watched TV and did nothing. All I did was question my incorrect PTO.

My daughter is in the Air Force and has dealt with the same issue

I definitely relate. The better you are at your job, the more work you are given.
