Sorry you are going through this. I learned a long time ago that the reward for good work is more work. I would say you should scale back slowly. There is nothing wrong with just meeting expectations for a job rather than going above and beyond.
Same thing happens to me everywhere I go. The answer is the same when I say no. "I can trust you to get it done right and on time". My answer is "Maybe this means you need to hire better people". When I found out at my last job of 7 yrs I was training people, who were showing up late and leaving early and not doing a good job, were getting paid more than me...that was it. I demanded a raise then found another job. They begged me to come back and a yr later are stuck with 2 nurses that are horrific and cycle through other nurses because they have to do the work for the other 2 who are pets of the DON.
Hang in there. We are suffering from Hurricane trauma. Take some time for yourself. And learn to say no. It is too much. When you set boundaries, others will realize that and back off. But only you can set and enforce those boundaries.
We just got power back yesterday. Two in two weeks is a bit much and this second one required us to relocate our residence to higher ground. Fortunately the facility received minor damage and my own home has some minor structural damage. So many need help. They lost it all. I wish I had the energy and time too help them all. Thank you for your kind words.
Yes I'm overwhelmed and burnt to a crisp

Been there.. and I totally get that! It’s frustrating when doing a good job leads to extra work, but not more recognition or support. It’s unfair that your counterpart isn’t sharing the load. Maybe it’s time to have a conversation with your manager about balancing the workload—sometimes they don’t realize it’s piling up!

Great idea! A list can clearly show your workload and all you’re managing. Good luck!
I find this to be true...
My roomie was like that. She worked in drug compliance. She was really good and they pushed and pushed and then she had a complete meltdown and had to take off for some wellness and healthcare and while she was out trying to get help they fired her. Unreal right?
I faced the same at my old job. I told them to kick rocks barefoot.
I understand how you feel. But, it's actually a compliment. You must be awesome at what you do.
Going above and beyond is not always a good thing when you are already at your wits end. I suggest only doing the bare minimum required since you're not getting any recognition for being a good employee. I hope things get better for you.
Thank you! 😊
NP here, I agree it seems that if a good employee has an off day, it's a super big deal and everyone notices, but if an average employee continues to suck, no one raises an eyebrow at all. Both of these employees are getting paid and treated the same in most cases besides maybe some unit gossip about your lazy coworker. I haven't found a way to fix this problem. Healthcare will always be more work than the employees and system can handle. There will always be work to take on. We have all been there I guess all we can do is set our boundaries of not taking on extra work or moving faster than a reasonable pace
To Owner 1 below. About your roommate who had a work stress meltdown. Do not know what state you live in, but her meltdown was caused by her employer and should be a worker’s compensation claim. Secondly, in many states you cannot get fired while out on workers compensation. If that is the case, work compensation should be paying for her recovery. Check your state law. In my state, if you get fired while on comp Leave, that is wrongful dismissal and a lawyer should handle a suit for her. Sorry to here about your roommate. I hope she has recovered.
I completely understand how you feel. I have been exactly where you are. I had a mentor once that suggested to still do the work but to document for your yearly review. This was when you ask for a raise you can give them the reasoning why you feel its warranted.
Yes I understand, part of the reason I had to step back from a supervisory role.
Yes that is my next step unfortunately.
I just put in my resignation for that same thing...no support and nothing is ever good enough. I hope it gets better for you one way or another.
I do understand. Sorry you are experiencing this
Absolutely. I learned to go above and beyond it gets you nowhere but overworked and underpaid. It's ok to just hit your quota and do your part. Remember you're working to live not the other way around.
"Work based on your pay." ;)
You’re right to feel this way. The work industry now depends on the few employees who still have a good work ethic and put in them the work of two or more employees without having to shell out additional pay for those missing employees. The ones that are not doing their part are considered just extras , warm bodies, to do the smaller & tedious tasks that need to get done. In some places you might notice that director positions are being done away with and their responsibilities are being placed on to department manager and/or supervisor roles. So for those who are being offered a bump in their pay for a higher in rank role, I encourage you to think twice before accepting that enticing offer and try to see the big picture over the long road before saying yes. Be proactive instead of reactive!

I'm sorry you're going through this. Have you discussed these feelings with your boss?
Not yet but I’m going to. She is newer to our department so I think she just isn’t aware. I’ve just always been the “yes” person and want to help everyone but I need to learn it is ok to say no sometimes. ❤️
We must work for the same company.
Same here, more than 1 person can effectively do. I don't mind the work, but the amount of work affects performance. And I take that seriously.
