Anyone else get frustrated when colleagues/clients don’t place the same value in punctuation as us writers do, and it causes you to misread their tone?

For example, when reading client comments, these are two very different things to me:

- this should be removed
- this should be removed!!

I know my client well and she is just a very bubbly and enthusiastic person who overuses exclamation points, but it took me a long time to stop reading her tone as angry all the time.

Can’t stand exclamation points. The first rule of compelling writing is to never use them. Okay, maybe not never. But sparingly and make sure you really need to yell.

So, you’ve reached the stage of your career where you care more about cashing a fat paycheck than making “creative ads”. I'm new-ish to copywriting after working as news reporter and TV host for years. Please help! I'm looking for writing terminology. At our agency, we are getting more into creative writing vs ... executional writing? Please help me find the right term. Creative means developing the big idea (concepting), writing scripts and headlines with flair, etc.) for an awareness "hook" and then the other camp, which includes brochures, one pagers, banner ads, sales sheets.

What should we call the other type of writing? (Cont in comments)
