Classic mistake. Less talented people are often pettier because they’re less secure.

It’s the case most times. But I have encountered also the opposite. Good people who are maybe not super talented. But they’re good humans. And also a couple of people who despite winning every award and being super talented, they’re still insecure AF.
Hit the nail on the head. And it’s extra infuriating when they’re being insecure over some below the line, chump change project like it’s a career defining SB spot. Because for them it is, they’re never gonna cut it in the big leagues so this is the best they can hope for.

Yes, that’s the big issue. It’s everyone above me.
And they either have zero ambition or a lot of ambition but no taste.
If you have any Lions put them on your office shelf. 😉

A-List doesn’t mean the agency is prestigious.
Yeaaaaa, in the same boat and lowkey anxious about it too with the job market being crappy at the moment. 😅
Oh no! I’m thinking about making a similar jump (big pharma agency to very small)… any red flags looking back that you wish you would have looked into more to avoid the situation? I’m sorry.
All the time
I’m living this right now. Having to proof to direct supervisor who not only can’t design, but can’t tell the difference between good and bad. Match that with his unearned arrogance and his gaslighting as he critiques work to try to get it down to his level. He is fully backed by his equally tasteless supervisor. That plus the level of pettiness around here, has made it really tough. He just got a new supervisor, and she seems astounded by his lack of skills and terrible interpersonal skills. We will see if anything can improve. Meanwhile, I’m looking elsewhere.
Yes, but now you know where you belong?
