Honestly, I’d just watch Facebook marketplace. People move and don’t want to take the mats. I scored enough to go around my saw and outfeed /assembly table for nothing.
It’s just general foot comfort/anti-fatigue. I actually don’t need them; a neighbor was moving and forced them on me. But they are nice!
What type of mats are you looking for? I did rubber mats in my gym… about 200 sq ft… and it cost me about $550 for 1/2inch. I think it was about 20% less for 3/8th inch.

What is the purpose of the mats? How tough they need to be will determine suggestions.
Have you looked at horse stall mats?

Another possibility, depending on where you live, is used conveyor belt. These are usually long ~3ft strips but are incredibly tough and cheap if you can find the right place to buy them from.
