Can a person just say that he cannot disclose his current salary while negotiating an offer and just mention his expected salary (which may be 2x current one) , because if the current salary is low ,the expected salary can't be too higher than current one ? Never seen such a case so just asking

I have just recently accepted a position as Director of Compliance at a Fin-Tech company here in Naples, FL.. My previous 17 YOE were strictly in the Financial industry. Does anyone know what the average salary is for this position? I have a sinking feeling that I accepted the role too quickly without comparing salaries. The position only pays $50k/year. Hey Fishes I have completed close to 4.5 years in EY under the Tax Operation team specialized in resource management. I am getting only 7.5lpa inspite of getting "Strategic Impact" which is the highest reward category. I was supposed to get a skip level promotion which the HR had rejected for some reason. I have been selected at citi but HR is unable to release offer letter. This is because I have worked for citi as contractor or consultant in past but I don't remember my SP ID or GP ID which Citi provides to its temporary employees. HR is checking my SP ID or GP ID which was allocated to me in the past but I don't recall it is. HR is checking this with US team and this process is taking time. If they cannot extract it due to some reason, will they release my offer letter? Please clarify this.
