I did one medicated that did not take and we switched to modified natural for the second which took. If I remember correctly my lining responded better for the second one.
My RE told me the success rate is about the same so I went with modified natural. 11 weeks pregnant now!
Same question I’m facing too. I am leaning towards natural because I have to take less injections then.
I had the same experience as D2 and BCG1-- medicated cycle 1 resulted in a miscarriage, (even more) medicated cycle 2 was a chemical. I really pressed the clinic to try modified natural and was successful. They advised against it but all my research showed its much more standard in Europe and can be more successful for certain women.
FWIW, part of what gave me the confidence to try is that I had previously gotten pregnant and had a baby through IUI and we had discovered our issues were genetic, not challenges with my cycle/hormones etc. I know my story is not data, but I think the fact that my hormone levels were all good-to-normal, I knew I could carry etc were indeed good indicators that natural might work and all the extra meds could have been screwing things up.
I’m currently doing natural because my medicated cycle didn’t take. I hated the meds during that cycle- the shots were difficult to administer and I felt like complete crap daily.
Also, my remaining embryos are not great quality so my husband and I like that we can try naturally alongside the FET. There is risk of twins/multiples but we’re ok with that.
This natural cycle requires way more clinic visits for monitoring (I’m literally sitting in my waiting room now for my 3rd visit this wk). The clinic visits are much more frequent and ad hoc. So that’s worth considering if you may not have the time or flex to make the trips.
Thanks for the input, all! For modified natural - how many clinic visits are there typically? And is it the early morning ones similar to retrievals?
For me, yes it was similar to the retrieval-- we did the monitoring up to the trigger, then after the trigger did monitoring every day til we started to see the Pg spike. This was critical as it actually came a day later than expected-- doc started pressing to medicate to not miss the cycle-- but 1 extra day everything went up, we transferred on day 6 instead of 5 and TADA!
