What is the best way to begin a transition from a help desk job to an actual career path in IT? I’m getting close to being at my current job for a year, however I have a lot of experience in the tech field, which is what landed me this job without any actual IT background. I definitely feel over qualified and under paid in the position I am in now, and looking for the next step towards an IT career. Any advice would not fall on deaf ears. TIA

Looking for a bit of insight on how commission or bonus is structured on flat rate residential real estate at Canadian law firms. I was offered a good base salary and I was asked what type of structure I was looking for. I am uncertain as to what is considered standard or what to look for in terms of bonus/commission structure. I was a teacher for 4 years and transitioned into the corporate world. I have 6 months experience in marketing and that’s what I currently do, but plan for a lateral move in the future. I’ve seen suggestions of 3-7 years experience - does my teaching experience factor in? Or should I consider the 3-7 years only of my corporate time? Or is an MBA sooner a good move because of my big career transition (and future lateral)?
