Question on on labor laws in the US:

Received an offer from Amazon but I'm concerned about negotiating hard and ending up with an offer that's on the higher end of the pay band when compared to the rest of the (future) team. My concern is during an economic downturn, it would be easier to let me go if the team needs to be downsized. This would be because I would have the least experience on the team & more expensive to retain from a cost perspective.

My concerns valid? #amazon #aws #faang

Received a job offer. Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on a concern I had about it. It's an entry level position, and I don't have much experience. The billables are 2040 a year. For billable hours in civil litigation and insurance defense, is 2040 hours for a 1st year associate on the high end in this field for a small or midsize firm? It seems like most attorneys I know have minimum requirements of around 1800. The compensation is around 80k a year.

Hi do they boot give citations or tow for street parking in midtown/downtown area? It’s the one where you pay at meter and put in license plate. Last few days I’ve been visiting my friend at a hotel in midtown and secured $2 parking per hour cause there are no grocery stores or free parking spots nearby. And been a bit risky like underestimated time. Seeing what repercussions would be. Parking city patrol would have to drive or walk by, pick my car to check, look for plate online etc

23 years in the professional workplace, I've had great careers. A few National level roles yet I still feel like an imposter. I often feel as all of my success was on the backs of the support team I had around me in various roles. In a role now with little to no qualified support and I feel as if I'm floundering. I'm a coach/motivator style of leader. I feel held back by my lack of experienced direct reports.

Imagine a grocery store with only 1 cashier because the owner doesn’t want cashiers having nothing to do. Not until the line is 20 deep does he bring in another one. Then when both lines are 20 deep he brings in a 3rd. That’s public accounting.

Any United health group remote employees here? I recently accepted an accounting job and some of the onboard makes it seem like I’m only allowed to work from my home office. I usually spend a few weeks a year out of town visiting family and work during this time so I don’t have to use PTO but I’m nervous I won’t be allowed to do that anymore

Do any of you spend time on HNBA or other affinity organizations? If so, do you bill your time as non-billable, i.e. diversity? And how do you balance your time going to an events/getting involved?
