TGIF. Can I get an Amen?! 🍻🎉
Any thoughts on Doner in LA?
I had an interview w/ the Hiring Manager at Boston Consulting Group for a position and it went so well that the HM said on the spot I was going to be moving onto the next round. Its been weeks since that interview & I've had to follow up w/ the recruiter 3x asking for an update. I mentioned interviewing elsewhere but prioritizing BCG. He finally responded to that saying he was going to debrief with the HM and get back to me but nothing... what gives?

Seeing the same. Limited supply of drivers I think
This is it, Uber and Lyft and offering the highest new driver bonuses they’ve ever offered right now because there’s such a shortage of drivers
One reason I’ve heard for limited supply is increased unemployment benefits as of late. It’s probably taking many of the causal drivers out of the supply. I’ve also thought that now that Uber is public, there’s more pressure to show a profit. So it likely a combo of these ideas.
While I haven’t tried it myself, I’ve heard Curb has more reasonable rates. Maybe there’s something to the financial investment associated with a Cab that’s motivating more drivers on that platform.
There’s actually little evidence that increased unemployment benefits are the major driver. If you look at changes to unemployment rate after the $600 expired last summer or the $300 was added this year, there was almost zero affect seen. This is simply people scared to work due to COVID and Uber drivers realizing that there is no actual profit on a $12 ride. All the free market people on this app hate when the free market on this app set a price they don’t like
Lol associate 2. Government and efficient in the same sentence is a great joke. You should try stand up
Rising Star
Some drivers also are fearful of carjackings on top of everything else mentioned here.
^^^ this. I feel for them
Uber and Lyft drivers were also the main targets for carjackings in Feb/Mar/April so drivers are opting for other positions rather than risking their lives and vehicles for a minimum wage job.
Yeah I had a $20 one just to go a few blocks (took it because friend was in heels so not walking that lol). Better off getting a taxi now in terms of price. Car jackings a month ago made it $30-40
Interesting mystery. Seems prices went up during the February snows and never came back down. Prices were low prior to that so not sure I buy it’s just covid / unemployment etc.
Uber drivers are now UberEats drivers.
Pro
Drivers quit during covid because it’s a sub minimum wage job
With no health insurance or job security
Use cabs, they are really cheap now that there is not much traffic!
I live in downtown Chicago and was wondering the same thing. I know drivers have told me that less of them are on the road now so I’m thinking that could be an issue. Yet, Lyft normally is less for me🤷🏽♀️
Chatted with a driver in Feb when my car was stuck in ice. It’s carjacking (along with the pandemic). Almost everyone around him quit due to fear.
