I recently was let go (in lieu of accepting my two weeks) and I should have received my March expense check by the end of April per the employment agreement (submitted the report April 1, let go before mid April). Hey fishes, can someone tell me how the 80c bracket works, i know i can get exempt upto 1.5lakh under it, what i wanna know is does PF comes under it or not? For example if my yearly pf deduction is 20k and VPF is 10k so now will i still be able to show investment of 1.5lakh under 80c apart from PF and VPF or i'll be able to get exemption on only 1.2 lakh( 1.5lakh-30k= 1.2lakh)?

Under contract to buy my first home - house hacking a triplex. Property has been leased by the same three tenants for the last 5+ yrs, rents haven’t been raised since they moved in. Market rents have risen 70-100% in the same timeframe. All seem like ideal tenants (retired and take great care of the units) but I’d like advice on how to approach the rent increase conversation. Rents don’t make/break my mortgage payment but I’m leaving a lot on the table if I don’t increase significantly.

I accepted a new offer and put in my notice this week and my company provided a counteroffer. The offer is lower than my new offer but I know it’s the best they can do. Financially I do need the money but I’m also tempted to stay because my current team is so great. Would love to get insight from folks here as I’m not quite sure what to do. I currently have around 14K in student loan debt and enough saved up to pay it off in one fell swoop. What I’m struggling with is whether I should invest that money into the stock market (thinking less risky S&P 500 ETF) and pay off my student loans monthly with the average payment being around 1000 so I can pay it off in about 16-18 months (due to interest being around 5%) or pay it off all in one go?
