Anyone recently been to Stockholm and can speak to safety? Considering taking our children there in May but hearing a lot of bad press, (taking with a grain of salt).

What on earth is unsafe about Stockholm? Maybe compared to Monaco?!!!

likefunny

Was there in August, 2 guys, and had no issues in center and south city, was going out till 3am and walking home no issues

Stockholm is very safe as a tourist. There are definitely unsafe areas, but you really won't be spending time in them.

This is like asking if Chicago is safe. Yes, unless you purposely go out of your way to visit the Southside

As a woman living in Stockholm, I can say it’s incredibly safe. Not once in my 7 years in the city have I had even a minor incident.

Feel free to reach out if any questions!

The whole unsafe narrative is hyper exaggerated by the media, and is very much isolated to random neighbourhoods much outside the city (also the attacks are not random, they are targeted on members of certain groups).

Dude, any city in the US is more dangerous than Stockholm - remember, they don't have freedom (guns) overthere 🤣

I was there last year in the summer and in December and never felt unsafe at all. Beautiful city. As with many cities, there are areas with more issues but sticking to the main areas was beautiful.

I was there in August 2024 with my husband. Saw a few homeless people. Saw 1 super drunk guy—stumbling and having the time of his life. Saw some 20-something aged girls changing clothes in an alley. Saw a decent amount of police presence. I felt fine. This was all around norrmalm and gamla Stan.

Very safe city. If you are truly worried about safety in a city like Stockholm, perhaps it’s best you just don’t travel. Or rethink the types of news sources and social media you consume.

As someone who left the US to move to Stockholm it is the safest city I have ever been to in my life. And I have traveled to over 60 countries.

It is a common occurrence to see people not worry about their stuff at restaurants, little kids walk to school by themselves , women walk home late at night etc.

Leave your worries, and be ready for a fun experience.

Parents in Stockholm and other Scandinavian countries leave strollers with napping children outside of restaurants, yea I’d think it’s safe. Can you do that in USA?

I was just there this summer with a 5 year old. Felt perfectly safe. We did take a late-ish metro ride once and there was someone who was a little mentally “off” but nothing out of the ordinary from a major city.

I didn’t feel unsafe last year in central Stockholm, but I didn’t wander out to the unsafe zones. Having said that, I was lucky enough to work there years ago, when the country was still predominantly ethnic Swedish. There are a lot of no-go zones so do take cation

Starting a new position in a few weeks and have an opportunity to speak with my future boss before starting. Is there anything I should ask before starting that wouldn’t already have been covered in the interview? I was thinking about asking if I should read up on anything before starting, but I also don’t want to impose obligations on myself if I don’t have to. Fwiw going from firm to in-house. TIA!

Completely understand if that’s not in the scope :) any means of help is appreciated!

Which one would you pick?

Big name shop. Shitty account, but you get opportunities beyond that.

Shop with bad reputation that lacks PR and hardly enters awards but has a lot of book-worthy projects.

I have unlimited PTO but my SO is limited in time (but luckily he can work extra hrs and then use less PTO). I would say max we could do is 1.5 weeks but adding on 3-5 more days seems almost too much? Thoughts? For reference, I did Venice-Florence-Rome in a week and it seemed okay but it also wasn’t as planned out
