How does one make the transition from having set daily tasks to working on extended projects and staying focused and motivated where no one is checking up on the progress?

Hey all fellow startups - we’re a small firm and we just had one of our employees poached by a larger firm (Ubisoft) who of course we can’t compete with at this stage. We’re already taking steps to find a replacement but was looking for tips to keep boosted when this occurs. We were told the classic “it’s not us it’s me” statement (and we don’t hold any blame or animosity - relations are good atm, and the pay is fair, but it’s Ubisoft ) but we’re trying to find a way to retain talent.
