Is now a good time to buy a house?
I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

I know some people who switched from ID to employment law and from there to big law supporting M&A teams, but that must have taken a long time.
Ugh I want to go to employment law. I’m in ID too.
I transitioned from insurance defense to I transitioned from insurance defense litigation to insurance transactional and regulatory work. Did that from about a year then asked if I could focus on transactional worked so I was moved to the general corporate practice group. Not impossible but hard. I also hated ID work, of I were you I’d get out as soon as possible because when you get insurance on your resume it’s easy to get pigeonholed.
In a similar boat now. Can I DM you to get more info on your switch?
Following. I’ve heard people recommend doing CLE’s, joining Bar Associations for Transactional law / in house counsel and networking through that. Maybe your schools alumni network? Or even a young lawyers division of the Bar and get a mentor..
It’s very doable you might just need to take a class year cut
