Anyone working on AI integration in the sustainable sector?

What is the most useful technical or soft skills for any mechanical engineer to have where you work? I’m curious to know what really matters for everyone and what makes a big impact on the team and business.

Specifics if you can; CAD tools, simulation, CAD speed or proficiency, industry or standards knowledge, GD&T, certifications, Microsoft Excel, presentation skills, technical writing, project management, self organization, great communication, teaching ability, relationship building, etc.

Did you choose to work in the private sector or academia? Why?

have any (females) dealt with imposter syndrome in a male dominated sport? i just started jiu jitsu at a really great academy but for some of the classes I’m the only girl and it’s a little intimidating. i feel like i don’t belong/deserve to be there. the guys are all super nice, so it’s nothing against them, i just get in my head a lot about it.

Folks who managed to switch jobs in this economy, how did you get the job? Did a recruiter reach out to you ? Or did you go on sending out applications?

One of the team member has applied leaves for continuous 3 days this month. Later she applied for a 15 days leave saying a medical emergency. Both the leaves were rejected from her manager saying connect with HR. though she is on leave without PM leave approval and this is not even prior notice to the team.
Now'what and all would be the consequences she might face. Is there any chance of these things are being escalated? Please advise!

After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Add a terrible health situation in my family and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh. 😞

I switched to industry recently! My boss told us we can go home after lunch at 1. Lol ok I can get used to this.

I am going to move in the next few month to a location with a higher cost of living due to personal circumstances. I love my current company but I’ve only been here a little over a month, how should I go about requesting if it’s possible to get a salary increase?
