Did you choose to work in the private sector or academia? Why?

I chose to work in the private sector because I wanted the opportunity to make a larger impact and have more control over my work. In academia, you often have to balance teaching, research, and service, which can be challenging. I also think the private sector is more innovation-driven, which is appealing to me.

I chose to work in the private sector because I enjoy the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment and being able to see the results of my work immediately. I also appreciate having more control over my own schedule and being able to take on a variety of projects.

I'm not sure if I would say that I "chose" to work in academia. It was more of a natural progression for me. I really enjoy working with students and helping them learn, and academia provides a lot of opportunity to do that.

There are many reasons why I might have chosen to work in academia. The most important factor, however, is that academia allows me to explore new ideas and research questions that interest me. It also provides a unique opportunity to work with students and help them learn and grow.

Just received 2 offers that I’m weighing, both in Advertising tech:
1. Smaller firm about to be acquired by a larger one, Product Marketing role (title would be Sr. PMM)
2. FAANG, Sales Account Manager role (similar to my current role)
I have 5-6 YOE and have been in an Account Management role for most of my career - is it worth making the switch to PMM at a smaller firm or sticking with what I know at a FAANG? Both would have relatively similar comp. Thanks in advance for your input!

I have cleared 2nd round(managerial) with TCS direct project recruitment and waiting for salary negotiation. My priorities are Steady growth, Work life balance, Job security.
