I am a girl in bjj! I haven’t really dealt with this issue. I actually find girls harder to roll with than guys (maybe they’re letting me win.) Most guys think it’s great to have girls at the school, so just train to do your best and don’t think about anyone else. It sucks that there are no other girls at your school, but as long as the guys aren’t all like 6’1 you’ll get good training. Feel free to msg me :)
That’s so strange! You definitely need to train more than once a week for good progress imo, so keep doing what you’re doing. Give it two months and you’ll be better than the new guys. Classic bjj advice is focus on position over submission. Always tap early. And don’t put your ego into it, bjj is a learning experience :)). Once you get a bit more experience, training will guys will be totally normal. Keep up the work!

One of my colleagues is big into bjj and he speaks SO highly of the women that he trains with, especially newbies — and that seems to be the case across the board w everyone I’ve met who practices it. Just wanted to give you some personal positive sentiment!

If it's any consolation, you can probably kick my ass at most sports (male dominated or otherwise).
You just gotta get in your zone and do your thing. I was a collegiate athlete in an extremely male dominated sport. I used to be the only woman lifting in the gym with the whole football team and I knew they were watching my every move. I just put in my head phones and got it done. I’d also tease them for lifting less than me 😂. If it’s your passion just get after it (cliche I know) but the only one beating yourself up is you. In my experience men love a girl who can kick their ass and training with men has always made me better and more competitive.
