I would say BI is definitely hot and there are lots of roles out there. My firm is paying 120k for BI engineers. Getting pigeonholed comes with almost all roles
If you want to be a BI expert and leader for the rest of your life. You should be good.
Yeah, pretty much. Way fewer ops than a Data Scientist or even a Business/Data Analyst. I’d consider learning new skills to stay competitive
Okay, I guess what I was trying to mean by “ops” is roles outside of BI. If you’re a Data Scientist, it’s hella easy to pivot into Data Analytics, Data Engineering, BI Analyst, etc. The opposite is not necessarily true, meaning fewer ops
Really enjoy data analytics and know enough to be dangerous but tactically pivoted to a S&O role to avoid being pigeon holed. Think that skill set adds a ton of value in my day to day though. If you don’t want to be an SME I’d definitely try to diversify job titles but don’t be afraid to talk up your skill set in this arena.
Really depends on the scope of works. Is it Tableau or visualization heavy position? If yes, + you enjoy designing, good for you. If yes, but you not enjoy designing, avoid it. Do you have space for proposing improvements based on data? If yes, go for it, no limitation
It depends on what you want to do. BI positions can be springboards to the business side of things.
If you want to stay on the more more technical side avoid them.
Build leadership skills, and focus on business acumen in this field, and you need not to much worry about only technical skills.
