Marriott points are pretty terrible. Hyatt redemptions and status are much better, but the coverage is also lower (not an issue for large cities though).
You’re treated better as a Hyatt elite and you can transfer points from Chase to Hyatt (Chase transfer to Marriott and Hyatt at the same rate but Hyatt redemptions are usually a fraction of Marriott.)
Hyatt just has a limited footprint. If you’re usually traveling to big cities you shouldn’t have an issue

Hyatt treats elites way better than Marriott, plus you have better perks like no resort or parking fees when staying with points or free breakfast for everyone in your party, even forcroom service.. The drawback, as others mentioned, is the smaller footprint.
Hyatt treats folks much better than Marriott. When I was Globalist, they always gave me suites at the property I stayed at, and one time upgraded me to a non-bookable presidential suite. I would be lucky to get upgraded to a suite at all with Marriott even as Ambassador.
Pro
Had pretty modest experiences in a few Marriott properties in Paris. That said, I was traveling as platinum at the time and wasn’t at a nicer property. If you want a nicer room, Hyatt. If you want some options to not be in touristy areas-could go either way.
I’d start building Hyatt status if you’ll hit globalist.
I will hit Globalist, so sounds like that’s the move. Thank you!!
