I only fly Spirit. Also, comfort inn
P2 that's not even funny, are you a masochist? Also why Comfort when there's probably a perfectly good Motel 6 nearby?
Where are you, where is the project, and a Marriott or SPG hotel. If you're not locked down to a corporate card apply for either an Amex Platinum or Chase Sapphire Reserve and start putting all charges on that.
Choose a carrier where you have to do the least amount of connections esp on the east coast.
Delta & Starwood loyalty programs provide the best value IMO. United+Marriott folks may disagree. People may say “it’s the same company” which is now true... but not actually true. Experiences differ. My lineup is Delta - SPG - Avis. Sign up for status challenges, check internally for firm specific airline promotions, you’ll be good don’t worry. Good luck!
Go for SPG or Marriott properties. For airline, it depends on whether your home airport is a hub for a particular airline. For example if you are flying out of ATL, go for Delta.
La Quinta
If you have options: I prefer Delta, and like Amex Platinum and SPG the best for the Delta lounge and SPG crossover benefits. CSR is better if you're United. American Airlines is a wash and their cards kind of suck. If you'll be at this a while (consulting, not necessarily this project) you should try to figure this out now and try to stick with it to build status.
Can also consider the SPG Amex card for something with a lower annual fee, it's really good for anything SPG/Marriott/Ritz.
Depends on your home city. I think it's best to pick the airline with more routes from your home city so that you can get your destination direct on projects or personal trips.
For instance, Chicago - United, Atlanta - Delta, Houston - SW (if most projects are in TX), Dallas - AA or SW etc.
If your city is a hub for a particular airline, I would fly them always as more times then not you will use them so worth getting status there.
For hotels, find out what options you have first (project usually has a few negotiated rates nearby in onboarding materials) and where other people are staying. I’d definitely go SPG or Marriott if it’s an option and I’d definitely try to stay where most coworkers are staying as dinner plans usually get made from hotels.
