I would look up common issues for the breed(s) and make sure those are checked out. I have a cavalier do I make sure his heart is listened to very well because almost all of them get MVD at some point.
A thorough dental examination and assessment! Crucial to stay on top of dental health at every age, but especially so as our friends approach and enter their golden years. Neglecting dental health in our pets can quite literally prove disastrous, from a health perspective, of course, as well as a financial one in the blink of an eye.
Your flea/tick/heartworm preventative will also take on increasing importance, so make sure to request a renewed prescription if you’re needing it! Alongside any updated vaccinations/boosters that doggo may be due for 🙂

Ask if you should bring your dog in more than one time each year (my dog just turned 16). I am accustomed to having blood panels run once each year, but if you ask about it, they may run the blood work unnecessarily due to your concern. Just ask your vet what they recommend.
Yes, that is Jillian with a treat in her mouth. Her dog "sitter" (who is a dear friend who lives in my apartment when I am gone) can get great candid shots our of her at any time. Mon wants a pic . . . bupkis.
Thank you all so much!
Has anyone else's dog have had bacterial infections on the skin with little patches of bald spots? I've already gone to the vet and went through a round of antibiotics which helped, but he's getting them again. I use an antiseptic spray on the bald spots. He's a middle/sr bulldog. Wondering if it's just his immune system as he's getting older?? He's not rolling around in a dog park or anything
About two months ago. They examined the spots. I don't remember them sending out labs
