As a mutual company, NM offers health, dental, & vision insurance to the employees as a self-insurer. The larger the group of risk, the concept of cost should be low. The company also has the employees pay a portion of the premiums.

How much of the premium would you find acceptable to pay? I believe the current rate is 15% and much better than the open market.

Or would you accept a lower salary in exchange for not paying premiums?

You should pay your percentage. Not all employees will want the insurance, a spouse may have a better plan, military benefits….
