As a tax manager how do you stop feeling like a factory worker on the line churning out tax returns? I’m outgoing and do not like being in the weeds…stayed in public accounting thinking making manager would get me to more of a sales/client relationship position but nothing changed since I was the main client contact as a senior and now have no one to delegate to.

Anyone else have a M.S and barely making over $20/hr in the healthcare industry? Smh, debating on a career change.

I’ve been on the bench with J1 for about 3 months. I was worried that because I couldn’t find another project, I would get laid off so I found J2, which pays more, is very meeting heavy, but I really like. I’ve kept J1 because I’m still on the bench doing absolutely nothing and getting paid. Thinking about looking for a role on a project with J1 that’s not along my career path but will allow for me to do work with no calls so that I can manage both jobs. I just left a Big 4 firm to Fund Accounting in hopes of better WLB, but now it’s looking like the hours will probably be even worse (60/70+ average weekly) throughout the year. I feel like I was misled during the interview process regarding the workload. Would it be a bad idea to try to return to my firm or another accounting firm? Another industry job?
