Then you can prove it with sign-offs. If it’s internal stakeholders you can still manage as an internal conflict which can be doused. But if you’re talking about external stakeholders , then you’ve got a nightmare on your hands, I’d say take your engagement manager into confidence.
Then they can bat for you.

It’ll never get approved by stakeholders. You can probably spin it by saying competitor benchmarked processes in the industry blah blah and then when they push back you may say sure we will sit with key stakeholders to align and improve on our current processes as designed from benchmarked processes
Problem is stakeholder themselves signed it off. & design is implemented.
