How many years experience have you got? What sort of industry relationships do you have? The worst VP hires I’ve seen are senior Corp Dev hires who don’t have a clue about how to run a process / advise / train and manage.
If you can come in and crack open a sector for an MD they want to target, that’s your best angle
How many YOE in corp dev and how many years post MBA? more likely that they come in as an associate
Could always try. Investment banking is not a difficult job, it’s largely puppeteering/herding cats…
At the VP level in the MM, you’re reviewing IMs, managing processes including negotiating with buyers/leading DD, and negotiating key terms in definitive agreements.
Assuming you can demonstrate you’ve done many of these in your current role, and at an excellent level, you’ll have a fighting chance…
