Hi Fishies,
Looking for any reviews/suggestions regarding Pubmatic. Most important is the tech stack and learning aspects.
Big data technologies(Scala-Spark etc) and Java.
Also in discussion with Impetus and Autodesk (via third party i.e. Applicantz).
CTC is not a concern right now as what they are offering is enough for me right now.
Any suggestions would be helpful

Actually, yes! So I had a direct report struggling with attendance. Strong performer, one I really believed in and someone I knew losing would be of more impact to the company than their attendance issues were causing. I got them to open up to me why, and although it wouldn't qualify them for FMLA, I went and advocated with our HR partner. They managed to find a bit of a loop hole that allowed them to approve an accommodation that gave them the flexibility intermittent FMLA provides, all while protecting the time from attendance consequences. It was for sure a huge stretch, but because I plead such a strong case for why we couldn't lose them for this, they really went the full mile and more for us. They ended up extending that for a full 9 months for the employee since she used it very responsibly and maintained her level of performance in spite of what she was managing in her personal life. Wise HR professionals know that turnover is expensive and that top performers aren't easy to replace, and extending a bit of grace and empathy buys lots of loyalty and good will.

I just read somewhere else (I think on LinkedIn) how so few HR and hiring managers understand the true cost of hiring people. They will lowball a great candidate, to save money, and sometimes get the savings as a bonus, then the new hire finds a better job within a few months, and the company has to start the hiring process all over again, and the cost of saving a bit on wages or salary just goes out the window to recruit 2-3 people instead of paying one person a fair wage to start with.
HR is there to protect the company, but sometimes that also means protecting the employee as well. Thankfully I have had basically no interactions with HR and I hope to keep it that way.
Yes! Protecting the rights of the employee!! Rights though... Not feelings or bullshit. Protecting employees from bias, discrimination, differential treatment, and violations of labor laws. They keep both sides honest, if you ask me. The ones that say they aren't your friend are the ones that are doing things they wouldn't want HR to hear lol, but prob made the mistake of divulging at their own peril. Do what you're supposed to do and behave like a professional and you'll have 0 problems ever with HR. I touch base with my HR partner all the time! If I'm on unfamiliar ground I consult with them on strategy BEFORE I act. They really appreciate that, it seems.

Totally agree—HR’s main job is the company, not the employee. But I’ve had HR step in to mediate a really tense situation and actually made things way better for everyone involved.
