I would be happy for the boring, repetitive, automated parts of our job to be taken over by AI so we could focus on the human element. But I'm worried that they are going to try to automate that too.
Maybe I'm a starry eyed optimist, but I don't think it will be. There are a lot of processes AI can help streamline, sure, and that's already been a huge help for me. I just can't envision a world where every single thing is handled by a bot, one of the big reasons being that people are skeptical of them and AI in general. Whenever I land on a website and have a customer service question, the first thing I do when I open up chat is demand to speak with a real person - not a chatbot. I don't want a generalized FAQ answer; I want someone to actually take time to understand my specific problem and address it. And most of the time that happens, it's over a relatively small purchase. If you're responsible for making a $xx,xxx+ purchase for your company, are you going to be comfortable putting your neck on the line with only AI to turn to for support? I sure wouldn't be.
