Been in the Big 4 my whole career and made Partner a few years ago - one of those companies where I thought I’d spend my life.

But I’m seeing the winds change with the big consulting model + impact of AI - and considering moving to a public tech firm that is now spinning up its own advisory biz.

They have C-suite and board commitment, low debt, strong free cash flow, and a proprietary tech stack.

Thinking of making the jump. Am I crazy to leave behind the comfort/cachet of the big 4?

Go for it. Only the willfully ignorant don't see what's coming for the consulting industry.

Jobs are not secure in Big4, like anywhere else

Same situation allover. Regardless of the company or line of business. With very few exceptions.

Not crazy! I am ready to jump before everyone else does it. Listen to Bill Maher about “consulting” - he is rarely wrong.

Just handed in my equipment at a big 4 and while their business model has been amazing for a century, I don’t think it will remain like that. So yes, it’s not going to be comfortable forever there either, you might as well be an “early mover”

Phone addiction. I truly feel like I have one now and I hate it. Is anyone feeling the same or possibly improved your phone addition? I am constantly on my phone and my usage is averaging 5.5 hours per day. I wake up to my phone and it's the last thing I see before bed. On it between meetings and any moment that I don't have to be focused. I will say that my phone doesn't get touched when I'm with people. Almost at all. It is a cycle of insta, snap, and FB. With LinkedIn and this in between.
