Best coat for the winter? 30 y.o. Male. Really want a canada goose but that’s like paying a month’s worth of rent 😞

Besides the others mentioned here I’ve heard good things about Arctery’x and Triple F.A.T Goose. Both are pricier than TNF, Patagonia, etc but cheaper than Canada Goose

like

Triple fat is marketing hype. Go for arc teryx well worth it

I got a north face parka that is comparable to the goose at the 1/3 of the price. Def not as swaggy as the goose but honestly it seems over played to me

like

+1 for north face parka. Gets the job done and still looks good

like

Canada Goose is so overpriced and overrated. Patagonia, North Face, REI, LL Bean - so many great brands. I have the Downdrift from Patagonia and love it and love it in all winter long. (And all have local stores in Chicago)

like

Personally laugh every time I see someone with a Canada goose. Bad taste and tacky

I recommend Arctery’x, Columbia, or a Patagonia parka if it’s just for city use.

like

hey buddy, enjoy your… enjoy your jacket. if you DM me your address I’ll be happy to send you a few liters of freshly pressed olive oil from a 200 year old olive grove. just make sure not to spill it on your sick threads… might stain.

like

Canada Goose and Alteryx are definitely worth the price. You pay more upfront, but it will last you a lifetime. Plus they just look nicer. I’d rather pay more for these items and have one for life versus buying a new one every 3-5 years.

like

Lmao, I meant Arcteryx. You could tell what I’ve been doing all day.

Contrary to other comments here, I think Canada Goose is amazing and worth it, just read the reviews on the various styles. I splurged when I moved to Chicago and get so much use out of the coat for winter months. Just bought one for my SO for Christmas.

like

I agree that Canada Goose is totally worth the cost. Best jackets I’ve ever owned. Extremely high quality and unbelievably warm.

Canada Goose is asking to get mugged. Go with something like North Face or Patagonia.

I used to always buy expensive winter coats and this year I picked up a winter coat at Costco and it is amazing. Can't remember the brand. Hahaa!

like

Probably! lol

Got an LL Bean parka last year for $3-400 and it’s incredible

If you like the Canada Goose, just buy it. Definitely worth the investment given how good of a coat it is if you're living in Illinois. Given the utility and that it will last you years and years if you take care of it, it's worth the price. Needless to say, be careful wearing it in the city.

like

Got a Montcler as gift a few years ago and it's the warmest, best fitting, and most attractive winter coat I've ever had. It was expensive AF but I'm wearing it a ton and it's keeping me nice and toasty so I love it.

like

Canada Goose is overrated. I would go with a north face. If you’re going with something more formal to wear into the office. The standard Peacoat is always a winner

like

Check Freeds, online store in Canada for the Canada goose jacket. I think the conversion rate helps you save a bit.

like

Moosejaw parka is amazing! I have used it for two winters and it is very well productive!

like

once canada goose got rid of the fur lining, it basically became an overpriced piece of fabric.

darn hippies.

like

Columbia is great. Get the kind with the metallic looking lining. Cannot go wrong. I was walking outside in it last night with those crazy cold ass winds, couldn't feel a thing

like

Have had my Canada Goose parka for 10+ years and they are well worth the price (although they've gotten more expensive over the years).

Would appreciate any help—thanks.

Struggling to determine which firms can help with PM roles AND I'm struggling to get the ones I do find to respond to me. It may have something to do where I'm at in my career - 15+ years of PM experience & director-level roles at my last 2 companies - so more exec level but not quite C-Suite. Have tons of one-off recruiters hitting me up on LinkedIn about contract PM roles but that's not what I want.

I am only 4 months into working at my current firm. I already know it isn’t a good long-term fit because it is tech consulting. As a recent Finance graduate who interned in Corporate Treasury at a bank, I want to work for a firm with a stronger focus on management, strategy, financial services, or m&a consulting. Looking for an entry level analyst/associate role. If you work at a firm with a strong presence in any of these areas and know about an role that can be a good fit, please let me know!

I don’t think that most people they find in the lake went in it willingly. Water makes it too easy to cover up murders. Washes away evidence. But it’s dismissed because most people they found had also been drinking. But people just disappearing miles away from the Lake don’t just fall in it. Yes, suicide happens. But many of these cases show zero signs of anything like that. The constant MO is being out with friends having fun. The friend vanishes. Then is found in the lake weeks later.
